The average kid has a busy day. They always get tired, and by the end of the day, your body needs a break. Sleep allows your body to rest for the next day. Everything that’s alive needs sleep to survive. Not only is sleep necessary for your body, it’s important for your brain, too.
Everyone needs sleep because when your body doesn’t have enough hours to rest, you may feel tired or cranky, or you may be unable to think clearly. You might have a hard time following directions, or you might have an argument with a friend over something really stupid. A school assignment that’s normally easy may feel impossible, or you may feel clumsy playing your favorite sport or instrument. There’s also a number of physical problems can interfere with your health if you don’t get enough sleep. For example, sleep deprivation, sleep disorders, diabetes, heart disease and obesity.
Another reason why everyone needs to sleep is because we get an important understanding of our dreams. Dreams are important since they keep our inner fantasy and imagination alive. When you were a kid, you probably loved being a superhero or princess. This was your inner creativity. These crazy adventures our minds have while we are sleeping are a creation of our memories randomly activating to keep our mind fresh, and clear all of the thoughts about an event we have recently experienced.
You might not grow as well if you don’t sleep well. That’s right, researchers believe too little sleep can affect growth and your immune system, which keeps you from getting sick. Sleep loss not only plays a role in whether we come down with a cold or flu. It also influences how we fight illnesses once we come down with them. It is important to have a healthy lifestyle and having enough sleep plays a big role in that.
