Did you know for the first time in history a Canadian won the Nobel prize for Literature???? An 82 year old woman named Alice Munro has got the award. She is a very famous author who has published 14 books in total. She announced her retirement earlier this year, and has said that her recent book “Dear Life” will be her last. She said that even this award won’t change her mind. She has been named “master of the contemporary short story”.

Alice Munro won the Nobel prize on Thursday October 10th, 2013, for her short stories and novels she’s written. She wants all Canadian Writers to continue writing short stories, continue the legacy of short stories.

“I would really hope this would make people see the short story as an important art, not just something you played around with until you got a novel.”
