The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th FIFA World Cup, an international men’s football tournament that took place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014. This FIFA is definitely one that will hit the books. There were so many tears, so many smiles, many suffered and many fought. In twelve different cities, with twelve different stadiums, the tournament took place. So many different incidents, from when Luiz Suarez (Uruguay) bit Giorgio Chiellini (Italy) to when Neymar fractured his vertabra. So many happy faces glistening with smiles as they took their steps to go higher and higher. So many younger and older players who scored. Miroslav Klose hit his 16th world cup goal topping Ronaldo, former brazilian superstar. Neymar Jr (Brazil), only 22, rocked the Brazilian stage, so did Lionel Messi(Argentina) and Thomas Muller (Germany)right behind James Rodriguez (Colombia) who was the top scorer with 6 goals. 64 matches have been played and 171 goals have been scored.
In first place is GERMANY, as in the finals against Argentina, during the 112th minute, Maria Gotze, only 22, still young, scored a goal.
The awards given include the Golden Glove given to the most outstanding goalkeeper. Manuel Neuer, from Germany, got that award. The Golden Ball goes to the most oustanding player who was Lionel Messi, from Argentina. The Golden Boot was given to James Rodriguez, from Colombia, who was the top scorer. Colombia has been named the FIFA World Cup Fair Play Award winners and Paul Pogba, from France, has been named the World Cup’s best young player and recieved the Hyundai Young Player Award.
The World Cup brings people together. In the end, it’s all about the players and the teamwork. From 32 different countries all around the world, from diverse continents and a mosaic of races. For now, it’s so long to the World Cup but the World Cup gives you a realization of how much people are capable of. I LOVE YOU FIFA!
