We all have those really busy days where we have to manage with extracurricular activities, after-school jobs and just the stresses of daily life We need that time to refocus and relax. None of enjoy being stressed out, and it comes with unhealthy consequences. To unwind at the end of a busy day, I like to do activities that focus my mind and help calm my nerves.  Each of us have a hobby or activity that soothes our soul, and makes us bounce back to where we want to be. Here are the ways that I unwind:

  1. Writing

Writing helps many people get back on track. You finally get the time to write what you want, and take that heavy weight off you shoulder. Writing is a way to release those stories that we all hold. You can journal, write poetry or even fictional stories, whatever helps you. There’s no right way to write. Writing also includes to-do lists, which I make a lot of, so we don’t have to worry about tomorrow. Writing helps you gain clarity, and through it you can even inspire others.

  1. Meditation/Yoga

Before you go to bed, try doing meditation or yoga. Meditation is when we think deeply or focus our mind a period of time, in silence as a method of relaxation. Yoga is an exercise including breath control, simple meditation, and specific body movements, widely practiced for health and relaxation. Even just stretching can do you a whole lot of good. Meditation, Yoga and Stretch sessions all restore your calm and help you gain inner peace. The best part if you don’t even need to buy equipment or tools to do it.

  1. Drawing/Doodling

I am not the greatest artist, but I love to doodle, and it always brings my energy levels back up. I have a best friend named Krista and she always says drawing transports her to another world and allows her to express herself.  It allow you to be more productive, steady your mind, and erase any negative energy from earlier in the day. Set aside time for yourself daily to work on your creative pursuits. Don’t force yourself to draw, just go with the flow.

  1. Reading

One of the greatest things you can do to unwind is read a book. Reading allows you to distract yourself from stress and worries, letting you escape to fictional worlds. Even non-fiction books help you by focusing you on absorbing new information. Reading also lowers your heart rate and reduces tension in your muscles. Read for pleasure, don’t read your bills or newspapers, because it won’t help. Take charge of your wellbeing.

  1. Listening to music

Music has a soothing power attached to it, like magic. Listening to music, specifically slow, classical music, helps you relax. Music can catch our attention and act as a distraction, preventing our mind from wandering. Singing or shouting can also release tension. Music brings inner peace, and relaxation. By lowering blood pressure, heart rate, and decreases
